Monestro is Estonian-based p2p lending marketplace, focused on the consumer loans. Company was founded in the end of 2016 and is one of the newest Estonian peer to peer lending platforms.

The p2p lending platform Monestro brings together SME’s, private borrowers and potential investors who are willing to finance a given project and earn profits that exceed interest rates offered by banks. Monestro is a relatively small P2P lending platform in the Baltics. Compared to Bondora or Mintos each with over €200 million in loans to individuals and, puts Monestro in the youngster position.’ The Monestro team is not big but some of their members have been involved with banking and the financial market since 1992. This spring I met the CEO of Monestro in Estonia and he told about the vision to become a modern marketplace covering a wide spectrum of financial services for private individuals and SMEs and in 10 years to be a dominant marketplace in Europe.

Monestro review: What I have experienced so far

First, registration at Monestro is fast and easy. You need a scanned ID document, which has to be uploaded. Later you need to confirm your email, sign the user a

You can choose from two options at Monestro: invest manually or use AutoInvest tool. However, when you choose to invest manually, then each loan bid has to be confirmed via sms. Furthermore, the amount of loans is not sufficient for me and those loans are funded slowly (some of those do not even reach the target), but the loans has higher than 20% interest rates and that definitely attracts investors. I also have to point that if you want to settle more than 3 different scenarios for AutoInvest you will not be allowed to do that for free. The 4th scenario will be charged 5 Euros. At the moment there is a high amount of defaulted and late loans. It looks like the platform does not put attention to scoring the borrowers.

Money withdrawal is not free and is charged 40 Euro cent per transaction.
